New norton commando 961

I've been riding bikes since the 60s and have gone through British, Italian, Japanese, German and American bikes. I am seriously chuffed to be riding British Iron. What Garner and his team at doing at Norton is nothing short of fantastic.

In the world of mass produced plastic bikes the new Norton stands out from the crowd, and no one who has seen the bike has had a bad thing to say about it or the Company. Good luck to the Norton Motorcycle Company, I would like to think that this is the start of a long successful celebrated business. As for the neggies, move on sonny - nothing to see here. Steve H.

CF Moto now match any mainstream manufacturer on any matrix. Triumph has always been better dollar value than Norton. Those of us who ride for the pure joy of it turn all the traction control and ABS off. The Norton has a soul that even the Thai-built Triumph lacks. I want fast, I take the Ducati. I want raw pleasure, I take the Norton. How do you remove the solo rear cover to fit the passenger seat cover? To leave it there misses the point. I rode the cafe racer and Sport model also at Brisbane motorcycles and loved them both.

Not for their high tech, on the edge performance, and help you out traction control because they have none. But as a balance between days gone by and hand built in the UK quality, top flight suspension and brakes, beautifully finished mostly they are unique. A cheaper version could easily be made. They do not need Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension, But, again fitting anything less would miss the point. Hi Mark. A bit late replying to this thread but I have a SF.

My first had near jays when sold, with no trouble. Had this one for 2 weeks, it has on the clock. Yes they are flawed, mine is over geared, and cantankerous under rpm but I love it. It gives me a thrill none of my other bikes do. Yes my R GSA is a better road bike but I am finding myself grabbing the keys before anything else.

Delightful motor, had a few arguments trying to agree where neutral should be, an absolute blast under full throttle, brilliant on the Oxley Highway. Good fun bike. Allow extra travel time to chat to other old blokes about the glory days of Norton and other classic British Bikes! Great fun. Yet another writer who knows not what he writes about. Is it really worth it? Over priced for the low technology in the engine and electronics. The original Commando did not use a featherbed frame rather a large diameter single top tube and isolated engine and gearbox to reduce transmitted vibration.

All the new Commando are variants on the same cafe racer theme. But the team at Norton and TVS are determined and working hard to right the wrongs of the previous administration. Today, Norton has confirmed to Visordown that any existing customers that have paid a deposit for a Commando will be able to take delivery of a brand new bike should they so wish.

The bikes will be the first to roll off a new production line at a purpose-built manufacturing facility close to the existing Donington Hall site. The bikes will be delivered to the customers once any existing balance has been paid.

Norton will be building a limited quantity of Commando Classic bikes and offering these bikes to those customers who had ordered and paid a deposit for a engined bike. The team at Norton are respectful custodians of the Norton brand and feel privileged to build such special bikes for such loyal and supportive customers. Skip to main content.
