Some ps2 games black and white

This seems like a system-level issue. I'm wondering if I can try and just desolder the mod chip for testing? I'm pretty good with a soldering iron, would I have to undo the wiring too or would it be enough to just remove the mod chip and make sure the wires aren't shorting in case I want to re-install it later.

Last edited: Nov 17, Have you tried composite video on a modern LCD? Modern TVs should tell you what color format composite is using. It also sounds like the console is outputting PAL60 for some reason.

I'd say remove the modchip and see if it is fixed. Otherwise, I ran out of ideas. So, you have to carefully check if your cables are plugged in properly or not. You might have to switch your output modes based on the system you are using. There is no need to worry about this. There are some easy fixes. Luckily, we have seen the worst of it and have been able to identify a few reasons that might cause such an issue.

Followed by our analysis is a preferable solution to the problem. The first issue would be that you may not have plugged the three cables properly. You have to plug in the cables according to their colors. To solve the problem, first, check whether your cables are plugged in properly or not.

If they are plugged incorrectly, and you are still having the issue, you have to change your input from Component to AV. Check your remote for the TV. There should be a button called Input. Press it, and you should see a menu. As I stated before, component is component, composite is composite..

You have a composite yellow cable plugged into a component RGB cable , they are incompatible. I would also suggest ceasing the input you have as, well you can't do any damage, it is just not he appropriate connection.. Aah right, so basically only way it will work is for a cable. Well thanks, much appreciated because ive been clueless. The colours of the sockets aren't just there to make the back of the TV look pretty It is actually quite unusual for a TV not to provide some form of Composite connection option if not from a dedicated socket then via a SCART adapter.

Ironically you will need to use your existing wrongly connected Composite cable to do that. You must log in or register to reply here.
